Christel Elsayah is a dynamic Swedish actor and filmmaker whose work bridges cultures, languages, and artistic disciplines. With roots in Lapland and Phoenician heritage, she brings a unique perspective and authenticity to every role.
Fluent in Swedish, Arabic, and English, and with the ability to communicate in Spanish, she moves seamlessly across international productions.
Her acting career began with Swedish productions and quickly gained momentum. She appeared in Ruben Östlund’s The Square (Palme d’Or, 2017), a landmark Swedish film that brought her screen presence to international attention. She went on to act in the Swedish TV drama Fartblinda (2019) and later featured in Netflix’s The Playlist (2022), further cementing her role within the Scandinavian creative scene.
At the same time, Christel has proven herself as a bold storyteller behind the camera.
In 2019, her debut short fiction film was awarded the UNICA Prize in the Netherlands, a recognition that marked her entry into international filmmaking.
Her first feature documentary, Independent Indigenous (2025), will have its official premiere this year in northern Sweden, bringing to light powerful stories of cultural heritage, independence, and resilience filmed in Panama and North of Sweden.
Beyond drama, film and television, Christel has collaborated with leading brands such as Coca-Cola, Samsung, Electrolux, and several Swedish branding companies, showcasing her versatility in commercial and promotional work.
